Freehold Township High School Class of 1988: A Look Back at the School's Rich History

Located on Robertsville Road and Broadway since 1925, Freehold Township High School has a rich history that spans over nine decades. Originally known as the Hudson Street School, the institution has undergone significant transformations to become one of the premier public high schools in the state of New Jersey.

The school was established in 1923, serving students from all parts of Freehold Borough and portions of Freehold Township. Over the years, it has maintained its commitment to providing a top-notch education to its students. In fact, Freehold High School has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1928.

As of the 2021-22 school year, Freehold High School had an enrollment of 1,411 students and 93.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), resulting in a student-teacher ratio of 15.1:1. The school offers a range of academic programs, including Medical Sciences Learning Center, Computer Science Academy, and Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management Academy.

One of the notable aspects of Freehold High School is its history. Prior to moving to its current location, the school was situated on the corner of Hudson and Bennett Street in Freehold Borough. The move allowed for more modern facilities and a better learning environment for students.

The school has also made significant strides in addressing the needs of its students. As of the 2021-22 school year, there were 364 students eligible for free lunch and 82 students eligible for reduced-cost lunch, representing 25.8% and 5.8% of the student population respectively.

As a member of the Freehold Regional High School District, Freehold High School serves students in ninth through twelfth grades. The school's strong reputation has earned it recognition as one of the top public high schools in New Jersey.
